Hack-a-what?

A hackathon is a day-long invention marathon. Participants work in teams to create awesome projects from scratch, learn new skills and have some fun along the way! All skill levels are very welcome.

Who can attend?

Anyone who is sixteen (16) years of age or older as of the day of the event. In the case of being underage, you will need to get in touch with us so we can provide you a form that will need to be signed by your parents/tutor.

What about under-18s?

If you are 16 or 17 years old, you are welcome to join! Just get in touch with us so we can give you an authorisation form

How much does it cost?

Nothing. HackCortona is a free event, with great meals provided thanks to the generosity of our lovely sponsors.

Can I stay overnight?

Sure! We'll have gender-separated sleeping rooms available, but bring some things to make yourself comfortable.

What should I bring?

Your laptop, any electronics you wish to use, chargers, converters, comfortable clothes, toiletries and a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow. And of course, either your ID or your student ID.

What's the maximum team size?

You can hack with how many people you like! However, only teams of 4 or fewer are eligible to win prizes.

Can I start my project beforehead?

Only projects started at the hackathon will be eligible for prizes, as it would be unfair otherwise.

Will there be travel reimbursement?

Unfortunately we can not provide travel reimbursement, but have a look at our travel guide to check how you can reach Cortona.

Is there any code of conduct?

Yes. We follow MLH’s code of conduct , which all attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and staff are required to agree to. We expect all of our attendees to be respectful and considerate of others.

Are there any prizes?

Yes!! Although prizes are not the most important part of the event, we do have amazing prizes.

Does the hackathon have a theme?

The hackathon does not have a theme, everyone can let his imagination go wild.
